The old concrete building on Farnham Road beside the Tsolum River was built as a rough timber mill in 1912-1913, but was never operated as a mill despite being fully equipped.
In the 1920s the building housed five diesel engine generators that provided electricity for the town of Headquarters. In 1922 a fire burned the powerhouse roof off, leaving behind concrete floors and walls and some old window frames.
