The City of Courtenay is repairing the sheet pile retaining wall in the Courtenay River next to the 400-block of Anderton Avenue. The sheet metal river dike wall experienced an “in service failure” and needs to be shored up with rock to prevent a total failure, and to give the city time to devise a permanent solution. Repairs consist of the placement of a rocked structure in the Courtenay River in front of the existing sheet pile retaining wall.

The $365,000 project is being conducted in the last week of July and first two weeks of August during a Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) “fish window” available for work at the Courtenay River.
