Looking to the northwest toward North Grand Pre
The salt marshes at Avonport Station were my first opportunity to get up close to explore and photograph this dynamic section of the Minas Basin shoreline. The section I was exploring is well underwater at high tide, and will quickly become covered with water, and then exposed again as the tide floods and ebbs.

One of the interesting aspects to this area is the channels that are carved into the silt and mud of the intertidal zone, and the ice that forms in the area. This is a good example of the force of the Minas Basin tides. and the
While this is an interesting area, it is also a fragile area and one that requires care due to the soft and mucky muck that you walk on.
