MV Asterix

Formerly MS Amorito, MS Neermoor and MS Cynthia, MV Asterix was converted from commercial container ship into an interim supply ship for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Asterix was laid down on 21 October 2008 at the Nordic Yards Wismar in Wismar, Germany with the yard number 147. Launched on 27 January 2009, with work completed on 1 May 2010.

Asterix was delivered to Quebec City in October 2015 for conversion and was delivered to the RCN in December 2017 and put into service in March 2018.

Soldiers’ Memorial Fountain – Halifax Public Gardens

Erected in 1903 to commemorate the service of Canadian soldiers in the South African war, the figure at the top of the fountain was modelled from a photograph of a local Canadian Mounted Rifleman.
