Amis Ace in the Nanaimo Anchorage
If you know Nanaimo you will be able to figure out where I was when I shot this image of the bulk carrier Amis Ace, and you might know why she is anchored and what she is waiting for – logs. Raw BC logs that are headed, mostly likely, to Korea.
This shot has a lot of elements that I like – Newcastle Island, mountains, the ocean, one of the BC Ferries, and a sneaky little seaplane.

After walking along the Nanaimo seawall I stopped at Maffeo Sutton Park to shoot a time lapse of the clouds over Protection Island, and the ripples and reflections on Swy-A-Lana Lagoon.
8 minutes of my life to actually shoot the video, maybe another 8 minutes to figure out where the best spot was to shoot the video, and perhaps 20 minutes total wishing that I had stopped to shoot this at the start of my walk when conditions were better.
There is a life lesson here – stop and enjoy while you can…

Clouds over Simms Park, Courtenay
Clouds and swirling water – the Courtenay River as viewed from Simms Park, upstream of the 5th Street Bridge.
Clouds, cars, people and a truck making an illegal turn – lots happening here in this time lapse adjacent to Simms Park and the 5th Street Bridge in Courtenay.
