A small section of the 127 hectare Lazo Marsh in the North East Comox Wildlife Management Area. This natural area has many meandering and intersecting trails that are enjoyed by naturalists and other outdoor recreationalists for wildlife viewing, walking and mountain biking.

The Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre (CVWPCC) is a secondary wastewater treatment facility operated by the Regional District of Comox-Strathcona for the communities of Courtenay, Comox and CFB Comox on Vancouver Island.

Secondary effluent is discharged through a re-aeration cascade to a gravity outfall which terminates in the Strait of Georgia in 80 metres of water 3 km offshore.
The Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre is classified as a Level IV plant.
