Fish – Bamfield is known for fish and fishing, and the painted fish that you will see on many pilings around East and West Bamfield.

The fish were created and installed as a community art project, and as an indicator of where high tide is projected to be as the ocean level rises due to global warming.

MV Coho entering James Bay – Victoria
The design of the Coho was the basis for BC Ferries’ first two ships, the Sidney class Queen of Sidney and Queen of Tsawwassen. Coho was originally powered by two Cooper-Bessemer’s diesel engines rated at 2,080 BHP each. The Cooper-Bessemer’s were replaced in 2004 with two General Motors Electro-Motive Division Main Propulsion Engines rated at 2,550 BHP each.

Englewood Railway EMD SW1200
If you happen to be around Woss and you happen to like railways and logging, well, you really ought to take the time to visit the last operating logging railroad in North America – Western Forest Products Englewood Railway.
The Englewood Railway runs 90 km from Vernon Lake, through Woss, past Nimpkish Lake Provincial Park to Beaver Cove.
The railway operates EMD SW1200 locomotives, rebuilt with 1,500 hp (1,100 kW) Caterpillar engines, larger fuel tanks, and with triple headlights (middle, left, right) at both ends. They were delivered from EMD with dynamic brakes in order to cope with the long descent from Woss to tidewater at Beaver Cove.
