The Courtenay Riverway Heritage Walkway provides great views of the Courtenay River, the Comox River Estuary, and a small lagoon situated in the middle of a looping section of the trail adjacent to the Courtenay Air Park.

The air ambulances were in Comox standing by to transport two burn victims that were in critical condition after a house exploded and caught fire on 1st Street in Courtenay around 5 pm on Friday 28 May 2015.
