Cape Mudge government wharf –  Discovery Passage 

In 1792 Captain George Vancouver landed at the village of Tsa-Kwa-Luten which, at that time, was inhabited by Coast Salish people.

It was near present day Cape Mudge village that the first contact was made between European explorers charting the British Columbia coast and local First Nations.

The Tachek was built in 1969 as the Texada Queen, and was renamed to Tachek in 1977.

She was 0perated by the  British Columbia Ministry of Transportation from 1969–1985, and was subsequently transferred to BC Ferries in 1985 when the Ministry’s saltwater ferries and routes were transferred to BC Ferries.

Tachek underwent a $20 million mid-life extension project at the Point Hope Shipyard between December 2012 and October 2013.

Upper Puntledge Hatchery

At one time there were two salmon hatcheries on the Puntledge River – the Upper Puntledge Hatchery, and the Lower Puntledge Hatchery. The upper hatchery was closed, and now the property is fenced off and only used by BC Hydro for maintenance on the diversion dam.
