Shack Island – a proper little island

Fisherman  started living on Shack Island in the early 1930’s , rowing into Nanaimo to sell their catch. Descendants of the original shack owners use these buildings mostly on summer weekends.

Owners can maintain their shacks and bequeath them to family members, but are prohibited from rebuilding should they be destroyed by fire or nature.
