Lawrenceville at CFMETR

YTL 590, CFAV Lawrenceville is one of five Ville class tugboats operated by the Royal Canadian Navy. The Ville class tugs are quite low-slung vessels which makes them ideal for harbour work, such as the tight manoeuvring and delicate nudging required to ease a Victoria class submarine into berth.
Ville class propulsion is via a steerable Kort nozzle, a ducted prop with tight clearance (which is meant to increase bollard pull 10% over a conventional prop). A Kort nozzle’s advantage diminishes at speeds over 10 knots
