And a series of closer images of the Comox Lake dam – these show very clearly the change in level of the lake. During the December storms, although BC Hydro was releasing as much water as safe, the lake level was rising at a rate of approximately one metre per day.

Despite releasing as much water as possible, the level of Comox Lake continued to rise until the dam spillway was crested.
At this point the flow in the Puntledge River reached 440m3 per second – about 20 times the normal flow rate.
