This has to be one of my favorite scenes at the BC Hydro impoundment dam on Comox Lake – lots of water, but not too much, and a healthy discharge for the salmon downstream and for the Puntledge Generating Station.

The control gates and spillway viewed from the remote control station
Besides the view of the forebay area, I also took the time to walk the trails around the dam to take a better look at the control gate mechanisms. The remotely monitored and operated control gates allow a fairly precise regulation of the discharge of water from Comox Lake.
