Old fishing floats on the top of pilings…

I saw these fishing floats on the top of pilings at Parkers Cove on the Minas Basin, north of Granville Ferry and Annapolis Royal, on the south-east shore of the Bay of Fundy.

The tides are spectacular here, with a range of 16 meters (53ft), so I figure that the floats are perhaps used to prevent damage to the fishing boats, or maybe they are just there to mark where the boats tie up.

Dunno – someone will know. Someone always knows…

Taylor River

Low water at Taylor River

Taylor River is one of those places that you should take the time to visit – it’s powerful at low water flows, and spectacular and deadly during high water flows. It picked up this stump, and would carry a person away like a match stick.

You have to respect the beauty, fragility, and power of nature…
