British Columbia burns – Saltery Bay
The forest fire season of 2015 generated thick layers of smoke that coloured the sky, and obscured the sun. There was also a thick layer of fly-ash that settled on the surface of the water.
British Columbia Burns
Looking back to the 2015 fire that engulfed much of British Columbia in a smoke-filled sky and a layer of ash in many areas. I was in Roberts Creek at a campsite and all was fine – the next morning was a different story. The sky was yellow and orange, and I could not see
Rolling hills
I’m happy to be a passenger when driving through the Okanagan on BC Highway 1, as the scenery is amazing and continuously changing. Hills, clouds, arid vegetation and a lot of history…

Margaretsville Lighthouse – light on, light off
Margaretsville Lighthouse The light is on, and then the light is off – in a pattern that is unique in this area to help mariners identify the lighthouses they see. Margaretsville Lighthouse

Eroding sandstone formations I spent a bit of time at Houston’s Beach, a lesser known section of beach on the Blomidon Peninsula – a bit south of Blomidon Provincial Park. I arrived just as the tide was starting to ebb, so I had to walk through the water as I poked about. The water
