The train never did and never will run here, but they managed to put a boxcar near the old Victoria train station…

The shoreline at Wolf Lake
There is a bit of history here:
June of 1938 was the driest June since weather records were first collected in 1874 – it set the stage for what would be called the “Bloedel Fire”.
4:20 PM on Tuesday, July 5, Bloedel, Stewart & Welch logging company fire patrol discovered a fire along Track 21C in Block B of Lot 145. The fire would eventually threaten Campbell River and come within 3 miles of Courtenay. The fire swept through large parts of Forbidden Plateau, and Constitution Hill.
After 43 days, the fire was finally declared extinguished on Wednesday, August 17.
There is also a bit more history but of a personal nature. I learned the art and science of photography shooting black and white film, developing it, and then printing in a darkroom. Pilings, wharves, and other aging wood structures were waiting for me to photograph…

A time-lapse video of northbound traffic on BC Highway 19, shot at the Comox Lake Logging road (Comox Main) over the highway.
As with most of my time-lapse videos, there are obvious, and not so obvious things happening…

Tree planting along Duncan Bay Main logging road

This is hard work. Really hard work, work that will ensure that our forests are sustainable as long as we don’t start wildfires.

A peaceful moment at Wolf Lake, between Mount Washington and Constitution Hill. The lake is accessed off Western Forest Products Duncan Bay Main logging road.

Sadly, the two day use areas are starting to become littered with beer cans and broken bottles – that messes things up for everyone, especially people that want to swim in the lake.

And a little time-lapse video…
