The Port Lorne wharf was the first wharf built on the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. In 2014, a mid-January storm caused massive destruction to the wharf . During the storm an 80 foot section of the wharf deck was torn up and washed away.

The storm was so strong that a concrete manhole in the part of the wharf that survived, was lifted right out of the deck and carried away by waves that rolled over the breakwater.
