Tsolum River – a bit of a mystery

The purpose of this structure is a bit of a mystery – it’s along the old Comox Logging Railway grade, and  opens onto the Tsolum River upstream of Farnham Road and the old mill site,

I’m thinking it was the foundations for a crane that was used to haul logs out of the river – more research is required…
