Constructed in 1900, the Porter Block is a two storey, brick and stone building located at the northwest corner of Douglas and Johnson Streets. With rusticated stonework, decorative multicoloured brickwork, and cornice balustrades, the building is valued as one of the finest reflections of the change in architectural stylistic expression which occurred in Victoria at the turn of the twentieth century.
The Porter Block was recognized as an historic place in 1995.
