
No.4 Mine – Cumberland near Whytes Bay on Comox Lake

There’s not much left to see of the No. 4 mine, which is a shame but understandable as the main access to the mine was by a drift tunnel and it has long since been covered and grown over. What remains is an interesting glimpse into what was once a profitable, but deadly, coal mine – 105 men lost their lives in the mine between 1888 and 1935.
