There’s not a lot at Horton Bay, but that’s not important as this small bay on Mayne Island provides a sheltered anchorage and a government dock.

Sometimes that’s all that you need…

The skies were hazy and impenetrable due to smoke from forest fries in the BC interior when I visited in August 2017. That’s life, and as a photojournalist I portray what is, not what I wanted…

I had a few reasons to visit the Japanese Garden – I wanted to see as much of Mayne Island as I could, it was nasty hot out and I wanted to cool off, and because a friend of mine has some ties to Mayne and this wonder tranquil spot.
