One of the eleven houses in Jordan River that BC Hydro offered to purchase
In Jordan River you need a plan – a plan to pack up and get up to higher ground really fast as this is in the tsunami zone, and the flood path in the event of an earthquake that could cause BC Hydro’s Bear Creek Reservoir dam to fail.

The eleven houses in Jordan River are in the flood plain, and if the dam were to fail, there would be a maximum of 20 minutes to evacuate to safe ground. BC Hydro offered to purchase the homes, and all but one owner sold.

This is one of the last houses standing – it’s fate is sealed as it will be demolished and the land will eventually show little sign that there once was a house and a home here.

It’s sad, but in this case I think BC Hydro made a good choice in offering to purchase the houses…
