MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. No. 1044 is a 1924 Porter 2-6-2T steam locomotive that operated in Chemainus .



CCGS Bartlett in Nanaimo
CCGS Bartlett is a Provo Wallis Class Marine service vessel and navigational aid tender. She is named after Newfoundland seaman and Arctic mariner Captain Robert Bartlett.

I remember visiting St Jean’s Cannery way back when it was a very young and much smaller business – it’s come a long way since it was founded in 1961 by Armand St. Jean.

I’m pretty certain that the cannery is home to the largest tin of smoked salmon in Canada…

Looking out from Chase River, past the log booming grounds and to the cargo ships anchored off Nanaimo. This has always been an industrial area, and an important factor in the forestry economy of Vancouver Island.
