A view of the Comox Valley from Forbidden Plateau Road heading up to the Wood Mountain Ski Area ski lodge on Mount Becher.

The road is largely packed gravel with some moderate washboard sections – passable by car but take it easy…

And the view – not quite at the end of the road but the best view unless you hike up the mountain past the old lodge. A nice view of the Comox Valley, Georgia Strait, Powell River and Texada

All that’s left after a fire destroyed the Wood Mountain Ski Area ski lodge in the Forbidden Plateau area on Mount Becher – graffiti covered ruins of a beautiful building.
In 1982 the original lodge burned to the ground , and in 1999 a fire destroyed the day lodge after a huge snow load collapsed the roof. Since 1999, the lifts have not turned and what remains now are a few burned out buildings, the abandoned lift towers and some of the orange chairs of the main lift.
